Leta M. Chapman Breast Health Center
This specialty center is designed just for women and their bone and breast health. Our goal is to provide you with exceptional service in a caring, comfortable, and professional atmosphere while offering services from screening to post-mastectomy apparel. The Leta M. Chapman Breast Health Center features certified state-of-the-art equipment for early detection and evaluation of breast cancer. Private changing rooms are equipped with individual TV-VCR units for each patient to view a video refresher on how to perform a Breast Self Exam (BSE). Specific features of the center include:
Mammography - this low-dose x-ray can detect breast cancer too small for you or your doctor to feel
MammoReader Computer Aided Detection (CAD) - the MammoReader is a CAD system that analyzes images for signs of breast cancer and highlights suspicious areas for further review by the physician
Stereotactic Biopsy - this non-surgical biopsy combines computerized mammography with a biopsy needle used to locate and remove a sample of breast tissue for further evaluation
Ultrasound - this procedure produces a picture using sound waves that can distinguish solid from fluid-filled cysts
MRI of Breast - a sensitive screening tool used in addition to mammography to enhance detection capabilities
Miraluma Imaging - an adjunct to mammography and possibly helpful in women with dense breast tissue
PET Scan - using positron emission tomography, a "real time" image of an organ or tissue can be analyzed for early detection of a cancer recurrence and/or staging

Osteoporosis Screening
Osteoporosis causes a decrease in bone mass, weaker bones and a higher risk of bone fracture. We are pleased to have a DEXA machine, considered the most accurate scan for testing bone density. Standard x-rays show changes in bone density after about a 40% bone loss, but a DEXA scan can detect changes after about a 1% change. Screening for early signs of bone loss will allow you to take appropriate steps to preserve bone mass.
DEXA Bone Density Testing - a DEXA scan lasts about 10 minutes and exposes the patient to less radiation than a standard chest x-ray.
Osteoporosis Awareness - Learn about the facts of osteoporosis as well as prevention and treatment.
