Clinical Pastoral Education
- The only Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program in Tulsa and northeast Oklahoma
- A CPE supervisor with multiple years of experience as a hospital chaplain
- For ordained and lay clergy and seminary students of all faith groups
- CPE is graduate theological education in a clinical setting. Students accepted into the program serve as chaplains throughout the hospital in a variety of situations - crisis, trauma, end-of-life
- Students who are interested in applying for CPE must be able to work in an inter-faith and multi-cultural environment. Students learn critical thinking skills for ministry through peer and supervisor consultation, clinical case studies and a pastor’s group. A processing fee of $25 is required for each application
- Summer Program - This program begins the first Monday of every June and runs for a minimum of 40 hours a week for twelve weeks. Curriculum content focuses on the formation of pastoral identity. The program is limited to six participants. Tuition is $475
- Residency Program - Residency requires a nine-month commitment and an average of 55-60 hours per week. Residents are paid a stipend of $2,000 per month for nine months with optional benefits. A previous unit of CPE is required. The program begins the first week of September and is limited to four participants. Those who complete the program may be eligible to become board certified in the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC). Tuition is $150 per unit.
- Extended Program - Time commitment is one day a week for at least 20 weeks. Participants usually include professional chaplains seeking APC board certification; ordained and lay clergy interested in continuing education. The program will begin mid-fall of each year with 300 hours of documented ministry (50% community and 50% hospital). The program is limited to six to eight participants. Tuition is $750
