Volunteers receive hospital orientation, on-the-job training and a number of benefits. Flexible schedules are available. Junior Volunteer Program
The Junior Volunteer Program at Hillcrest Medical Center is designed to provide teenagers an opportunity to perform a worthwhile community service by helping patients, families, visitors and staff at a large urban hospital.
A Junior Volunteer at Hillcrest has the opportunity to achieve a sense of personal growth, learn new skills, and make new friends.
The process of application, interview, orientation, work, and evaluation is useful preparation for the world of work.
Volunteering is also a valuable reference on a college or job application. Each Junior Volunteer who completes the 6-week summer program will receive a Certificate of Completion.
Junior Volunteers must have a sincere desire to help others, be friendly, compassionate, and willing to learn. Volunteering will broaden the teenager’s experience and they will benefit from contact with different people of all backgrounds, situations, and walks of life.
The Junior Volunteer Program is a learning experience and the Juniors will have the opportunity to observe doctors, nurses, and technicians at work and see the many facets o the health care field, which will give them insight into the wide range of health care careers.
