Hillcrest Medical Center and Hillcrest Hospital South earn an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group

Hillcrest Medical Center (HMC) and Hillcrest Hospital South earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit watchdog that sets standards for excellence in patient care. Leapfrog assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 national performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm.

“We are proud to have earned a fifth consecutive ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade,” said Xavier Villarreal, CEO of HMC. “This achievement is a direct result of the commitment of HMC caregivers and support staff and our collective dedication to providing high quality care to the Tulsa community in a safe environment.”

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program exclusively based on hospital prevention of medical errors, infections and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day nationally. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually in the fall and spring.

“Hillcrest South’s shared dedication to providing high quality care in a safe environment resulted in a second consecutive ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade,” said Bennett Geister, CEO of Hillcrest South. “Hillcrest South caregivers and support staff work tirelessly to ensure continuous improvement in all we do to care for patients, their families and one another.”
